JMI team’s Autonomous Fire Fighting Drone “FIRE X” wins First Prize in “Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship (IDE) Bootcamp” Competition

 

New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is delighted to inform that a team of students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the university has won the First Prize (All India Rank -1) in “Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship (IDE) Bootcamp” competition, an all-India event, organized by the AICTE and the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC). The competition was held between February 17 and 21, 2025 at IIT, Jammu featuring about 40 teams from across the country.

 

The initiative, “IDE Bootcamp”, envisioned by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, aims to nurture the innovation, design, and entrepreneurial skills of student innovators and innovation ambassadors from higher education institutes and schools.

 

The team from JMI was led by Ms Afaaf Siddiqui, accompanied by four additional members Mr. Vikas, Mr. Vivek Kumar Das, Mr. Amaan Hasan Farooqi and Mr. Mohammad Sahil Khan, all of whom are students of B. Tech. (Mechanical Engineering) VI Semester.  Under the supervision of Prof. S.M. Muzakkir from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, JMI, the team conceptualized, designed and developed an Autonomous Fire Fighting Drone named “FIRE X”.

 

The team conveyed their sincere gratitude for the exemplary leadership and vision of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mazhar Asif. His commitment to cultivating a culture of innovation and excellence has played a crucial role in guiding the team towards the attainment of excellence.

 

The Vice Chancellor congratulated the members of the winning team and their supervisor for the exemplary performance in the competition and wished them good luck for their future endeavors. 

 

The team would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the Head of Mechanical Engineering Department, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering & Technology and Director of the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, JMI for providing the necessary support, mentorship and infrastructure.

                                        New Provosts Appointed at AMU Halls of Residence

ALIGARH February 22: Aligarh Muslim University has appointed new Provosts for two of its Halls of Residence, effective immediately.

Professor Sharmin Khan from the Department of Architecture, Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology, has been appointed as the Provost of Bibi Fatima Hall, while Dr. Abdur Rauf from the Department of Ilmul Advia, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, has been appointed as the Provost of Sir Syed Hall (South).

Both appointments are for a tenure of two years or until further orders.

अलीगढ़, 21 फरवरीः  वीमेंस कॉलेज सभ्यता, शालीनता और ज्ञान व साहित्य का केंद्र है। इस संस्थान ने हमेशा से भाषा और साहित्य की सेवा की है, जिसका एक लंबा इतिहास रहा है। यह बातें वीमेंस कॉलेज के प्रिंसिपल प्रोफेसर मसूद अनवर अल्वी ने वीमेन्स कॉलेज के ऑडिटोरियम में आयोजित अखिल भारतीय मुशायरे में स्वागत भाषण देते हुए कहीं।

उन्होंने अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम यूनिवर्सिटी की वैज्ञानिक, साहित्यिक और काव्य परंपराओं का उल्लेख करते हुए कहा कि कविता अभिव्यक्ति का एक सबसे प्रभावी माध्यम है। कविता ने न केवल दिलों को धड़काया है, बल्कि उन्हें गर्माया भी है। सामाजिक स्तर पर इसका बहुत महत्व है। प्रोफेसर मसूद अनवर अलवी ने कहा कि यह मुशायरा सामान्य प्रकार के मुशायरों से अलग है, क्योंकि इसके उद्देश्य अलग हैं। हम कॉलेज में मुशायरे का आयोजन इसलिए भी करते हैं ताकि हमारी छात्राएं इस पुरानी परंपरा से परिचित रहें। मुशायरों की परंपरा ने हमारी साहित्यिक परंपरा को जीवित रखने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई है। इस अवसर पर उन्होंने शायरा डॉक्टर जोया जैदी के निधन पर दुख और शोक व्यक्त करते हुए उनके व्यक्तित्व और कविता के बारे में चर्चा की और श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की। 

इससे पूर्व, मुशायरे के अध्यक्ष शमीम तारिक, मुख्य अतिथि अजहर इनायती और प्रिंसिपल प्रोफेसर मसूद अनवर अलवी ने दीप प्रज्वलित करके मुशायरे का शुभारंभ किया। 

मुशायरे की औपचारिक शुरुआत अजहर इनायती और सबीहा सुम्बुल की नातिया शायरी से हुई। इस अवसर पर पेश किए गए चुनिंदा शेर पाठकों की रुचि के लिए प्रस्तुत किए जा रहे हैं।

Collage AMU Women’s College Releases First-Ever E-Version of Annual Magazine 

AMU Women’s College Releases E-Version of Annual Magazine : As part of the Founders’ Day Celebration 2025, the Women’s College of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), released the e-version of the Women’s College Magazine, Khatoon, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s literary and academic pursuits. The digital version of Khatoon, originally initiated by Shaikh Abdullah in 1905, was also launched alongside the magazine.

Published under the patronization of Prof. Masud Anwar Alavi, Principal, Women’s College, the magazine, a collaborative effort of faculty and students, reflects the interdisciplinary spirit of the institution, featuring contributions from various academic streams, including Sciences, Social Sciences, and Arts.

The English section was guided by Advisory Board members Prof. Nazia Hasan and Dr. Fouzia Usmani, with Zunaira Habib Alvi as Editor and Madiha Naaz as Joint Editor.

The Hindi section was supervised by Prof. Reshma Begum and Dr. Shagufta Niyaz, with Ishana Perween as Editor and Mobshshera Khatoon as Joint Editor.

For the Urdu section, Dr. Ghulam Sarwar Khan and Dr. Mohd. Haneef Khan served as Advisors. Huma Firdos (Editor) led the section, with Azra Shameem as the Joint Editor.

The magazine’s design, including its cover, was created by Mariam Hashmi and  Akriti Pundhir.

Chancellor of the MNU visits JMI

 

Chancellor of the Maldives National University visits JMI

A delegation from Maldives National University (MNU), Maldives led by its Chancellor Dr. Mahamood Shougee visited Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) on 20^th February, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. to meet and interact with JMI leadership, administration and faculty in the Yasser Arafat Hall. Prof. Mazhar Asif, Honourable Vice-Chancellor, JMI, Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar, JMI and Deans of faculties and other officials were present on the occasion. The purpose of the visit was to explore educational partnership between India and Maldives.

Dr. Mahamood delivered his presentation on ‘Educational Partnership between India and Maldives: Looking back and forward’. He made a very comprehensive presentation on Madives various aspects including geographical aspects, educational, economical, tourism. He also dwelt upon India’s close ties with Maldives and various collaborative projects and mutual ties between the two countries. Further, he also presented a ‘road ahead for mutual cooperation’ especially in education sector between JMI and MNU Maldives

Earlier, the OSD International Institutional Relations, JMI formally welcomed the Chancellor of MNU, VC of JMI and other dignitaries. Dr. Mahamood Shougee, prior to becoming Chancellor of MNU has also served in various capacities such as Minister of Education, Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Maldives. Dr. Mahamood, a doctorate in Education from University of Toronto, played a crucial role in the expansion of secondary and higher education opportunities in Maldives, including the establishment of the Maldives Accreditation Board (currently MQA) for quality Assurance of higher education.

Thereafter, dignitaries present shared their opinions about various potential areas in different departments/faculties where collaborative efforts may be initiated.

In the Presidential remarks, Prof. Mazhar Asif, Honourable Vice-Chancellor, JMI explained the cultural and social closeness of India with Maldives since ancient times. He also talked about the diversity of the language, culture, religion and various sects present in India. He observed that it was nation’s diversity that provided conducive ecosystem for all to grow. He assured the visiting Chancellor of MNU by saying that JMI is ready for all the help and collaboration in various fields of education. JMI has proved its excellence in India and abroad and has maintained NIRF rank 3^rd in the country. 

Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar,JMI while delivering the formal vote of thanks also extended invitations to the Deans of MNU Maldives to JMI for further strengthening the ties between the two universities.

 

JMI increases number of seats

 

JMI increases number of seats in various classes of Jamia Schools for academic session 2025-26

 

Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) has increased the number of seats offered in different classes across the schools run by the university. The university’s Competent Authority has very kindly approved the enhancement of seats from the Academic Session-2025-2026, following the recommendation made by the Prospectus Draft Committee during its special meeting convened on February 7, 2025.

 

In class 9^th of Jamia Senior Secondary School, the number of available seats have been increased from 30 to 40. Similarly, in class 11^th Arts, the seat count has also been raised from 30 to 40.

 

In the Prep and 6^th grades of Syed Abid Husain Senior Secondary school, the number of seats has been increased from 40 to 80. Additionally, in the class 11^th Arts, the number of seats has been expanded from 70 to 80.

 

The number of available seats in the 11^th Science and 11^th Commerce grades of Jamia Girls Senior Secondary School has been increased from 50 to 80, respectively.

            جامعہ سینئر سکینڈر ی اسکول کی نویں جماعت میں تیس سیٹ سے بڑھا کر اب چالیس سیٹیں کردی گئی ہیں۔اسی طرح گیارہویں جماعت کے آرٹس میں بھی تیس سیٹوں سے بڑھا کر چالیس سیٹیں کردی گئی ہیں۔     

             سید عابد حسین سینئر سیکنڈری اسکول کے پریپ اور چھٹی جماعتوں میں چالیس سیٹوں سے بڑھا کر اسّی سیٹیں کردی گئی ہیں۔ اس کے علاوہ گیارہویں جماعت کے آرٹس میں ستر سیٹ سے بڑھا کر سیٹوں کی تعداد اسّی کردی گئی ہے۔

            جامعہ گرلس سینئر سیکنڈری اسکول میں سائنس اور کامرس کی گیارہویں جماعتوں میں بالترتیب پچاس سیٹ سے بڑھا کر اسّی سیٹیں کردی گئی ہیں۔

   The Urdu journal 'Daanish' of the Faculty of Arts, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), was released by the Dean, Professor T.N. Satheesan at the Arts Faculty Lounge.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Satheesan highlighted the significance of 'Daanish' in preserving and promoting Urdu literature and scholarship. He emphasized that the journal provides a crucial space for intellectual discourse and encourages students to engage in literary and academic pursuits.

Professor Shafey Kidwai, Director, Sir Syed Academy acknowledged the journal's role in showcasing the literary achievements of AMU students and faculty, while Professor Vibha Sharma, Member Incharge, Public Relations, underscored its importance in creating a research-oriented academic environment.

Earlier, welcoming the guests, the editor of 'Daanish,' Professor Ziaur Rehman Siddiqui expressed gratitude to the contributors and reaffirmed the commitment to uphold the journal’s scholarly standards.

CSSI, JMI conducts a two-day 'Gender Sensitization' workshop; former SC Judge delivers the keynote address 

सीएसएसआई, जेएमआई ने दो दिवसीय “जेंडर सेंसिटाइजेशन” कार्यशाला आयोजित की; पूर्व सुप्रीम कोर्ट जज ने मुख्य भाषण दिया

नई दिल्ली, 14 फरवरी, 2025: जामिया मिल्लिया इस्लामिया के सामाजिक समावेश अध्ययन केंद्र (सीएसएसआई) ने आंतरिक शिकायत समिति (आईसीसी) और डीन छात्र कल्याण कार्यालय, जामिया मिल्लिया इस्लामिया के सहयोग से दो दिवसीय “जेंडर सेंसिटाइजेशन” कार्यशाला का सफलतापूर्वक आयोजन किया, जो 13 फरवरी, 2025 को विश्वविद्यालय के एफटीके-सीआईटी हॉल में शुरू हुई। कार्यशाला का उद्देश्य लैंगिक मुद्दों पर जागरूकता बढ़ाना, समावेशिता को बढ़ावा देना और लिंग संबंधी अधिकारों और नीतियों की कानूनी समझ को मजबूत करना था। कार्यक्रम के संयोजक डॉ. मुजीबुर रहमान और डॉ. अरविंद कुमार थे, जो सीएसएसआई, जामिया मिल्लिया इस्लामिया के प्रख्यात विद्वान और संकाय सदस्य हैं। कार्यक्रम का समन्वय डॉ. मसरूर और श्री शेख मोहम्मद फरहान ने किया।

इस कार्यक्रम में मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में जामिया मिल्लिया इस्लामिया के कुलपति प्रोफेसर मजहर आसिफ उपस्थित थे, साथ ही विशिष्ट अतिथि के रूप में भारत के सर्वोच्च न्यायालय के पूर्व न्यायाधीश माननीय न्यायमूर्ति ए.के. पटनायक (सेवानिवृत्त) भी मौजूद थे। यूजीसी के संयुक्त सचिव डॉ. आर. मनोज कुमार इस सत्र में शामिल नहीं हो सके, लेकिन उन्होंने सीएसएसआई की पहल की प्रशंसा करते हुए बधाई संदेश भेजा।

उद्घाटन सत्र की शुरुआत सीएसएसआई की निदेशक प्रोफेसर तनुजा के स्वागत भाषण से हुई, जिन्होंने समानता सुनिश्चित करने में भारतीय संविधान की भूमिका पर भी जोर दिया और इस बात पर प्रकाश डाला कि लैंगिक न्याय पूरे समाज के लिए आवश्यक है। उन्होंने समावेशिता को बढ़ावा देने में शिक्षा के महत्व को रेखांकित किया, जिसे यूजीसी और एनईपी दोनों ने मान्यता दी है।

अपने मुख्य भाषण में न्यायमूर्ति ए.के. पटनायक ने अनुच्छेद 14, 15 और 16 जैसे संवैधानिक प्रावधानों के बारे में विस्तार से बताया और लैंगिक अधिकारों की सुरक्षा में राज्य की जिम्मेदारी को मजबूत किया। उन्होंने विशाखा दिशा-निर्देश, पॉश अधिनियम और धारा 377 के गैर-अपराधीकरण सहित ऐतिहासिक मामलों और कानूनी प्रगति का हवाला दिया, जिसने लैंगिक न्याय में महत्वपूर्ण योगदान दिया है।

इन बिंदुओं पर आगे बढ़ते हुए, कुलपति के विशेष कार्याधिकारी डॉ. सत्य प्रकाश ने सिमोन डी ब्यूवॉयर के प्रसिद्ध कथन का संदर्भ दिया, “कोई महिला के रूप में पैदा नहीं होता है, बल्कि एक महिला बन जाता है”, सामाजिक पोषण प्रथाओं और लैंगिक संवेदनशीलता प्राप्त करने में ज्ञान और शिक्षा की भूमिका की फिर से जांच करने की आवश्यकता पर बल दिया।

कुलपति प्रो. मजहर आसिफ ने पवित्र कुरान से सूरह अल-निसा का हवाला देते हुए कहा कि हर बच्चा एक इंसान के रूप में पैदा होता है और लैंगिक विभाजन सामाजिक रूप से निर्मित होते हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि धार्मिक शास्त्र महिलाओं के सशक्तिकरण की वकालत करते हैं, लेकिन व्यवहार में इन सिद्धांतों को अक्सर अनदेखा किया जाता है। उन्होंने आगे चिंता व्यक्त की कि शिक्षित व्यक्ति कभी-कभी अपने कार्यों में पाखंड प्रदर्शित करते हैं। प्रो. आसिफ ने साझा किया कि जामिया ने महिलाओं को प्रशासनिक पदों पर सक्रिय रूप से बढ़ावा दिया है और आश्वासन दिया कि विश्वविद्यालय लैंगिक असमानता से संबंधित किसी भी चिंता का समाधान करेगा।

प्रो. नीलोफर अफजल – डीन छात्र कल्याण ने संवैधानिक प्रावधानों की मौजूदगी को स्वीकार करते हुए कार्रवाई का आह्वान किया, लेकिन इस बात पर जोर दिया कि अकेले कानून गहरी जड़ें जमाए हुए मानसिकता को नहीं बदल सकते। उन्होंने इस बात पर बल दिया कि सच्ची लैंगिक समानता हासिल करने के लिए पुरुषों और महिलाओं के बीच साझा जिम्मेदारी की आवश्यकता होती है।

डॉ. अरविंद कुमार ने विशेष अतिथि, यूजीसी के संयुक्त सचिव डॉ. आर. मनोज कुमार का संदेश पढ़ा, जिन्होंने “सबका साथ, सबका विकास” (सामूहिक प्रयास, समावेशी विकास) के सामूहिक प्रयास में सभी हितधारकों को शामिल करने के महत्व पर प्रकाश डाला।

पहले तकनीकी सत्र की शुरुआत प्रो. चारु गुप्ता ने पारंपरिक चिकित्सा में महिलाओं के योगदान के बारे में ऐतिहासिक जानकारी देते हुए की, जिसमें यशोदा देवी के काम पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया गया। डॉ. अनामिका प्रियदर्शिनी ने महिला सशक्तिकरण के लिए एक उपकरण के रूप में सामाजिक पूंजी पर चर्चा की, जबकि डॉ. हेम बोरकर ने मदरसा शिक्षा में लड़कियों के बीच शैक्षिक आकांक्षाओं पर अपना शोध प्रस्तुत किया।

दूसरे तकनीकी सत्र में लैंगिकता, स्थान और अंतर्संबंध पर चर्चा की गई। प्रो. कुलविंदर कौर ने लैंगिक-समावेशी सार्वजनिक स्थानों की आवश्यकता और दलित तथा ट्रांसजेंडर व्यक्तियों के सामने आने वाली अनूठी चुनौतियों पर जोर दिया। डॉ. स्मिता एम. पाटिल ने दलित-बहुजन दृष्टिकोण से जाति और लिंग का विश्लेषण किया, तथा शक्ति असंतुलन पर प्रकाश डाला। पिंक लिस्ट इंडिया के अनीश गावंडे ने डिजिटल स्थानों में LGBTQ+ वकालत के बारे में बात की, तथा मिस कायालविझी ने बाल विवाह, बाल यौन शोषण और मासिक धर्म संबंधी वर्जनाओं जैसे मुद्दों पर प्रकाश डालते हुए महिलाओं के लिए शैक्षिक स्थानों को पुनः प्राप्त करने की रणनीतियों पर चर्चा की।

सत्र का समापन डॉ. अरविंद कुमार द्वारा दिये गए धन्यवाद ज्ञापन के साथ हुआ, जिसके बाद एक इंटरैक्टिव प्रश्नोत्तर सत्र हुआ, जिसमें लैंगिक पूर्वाग्रहों को समाप्त करने में सामूहिक कार्रवाई की आवश्यकता पर बल दिया गया। प्रतिभागियों ने वास्तविक लैंगिक समावेशिता प्राप्त करने में नीति सुधारों और समुदाय-नेतृत्व वाली पहलों के महत्व पर बल दिया।

यह कार्यशाला जागरूकता बढ़ाने और लैंगिक संवेदनशीलता के बारे में चर्चा को बढ़ावा देने, संस्थाओं और व्यक्तियों को समान रूप से अधिक समावेशी समाज की वकालत करने के लिए प्रोत्साहित करने की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम है।
